So the coop will be built inside a pole barn thats 30 years old but still in good shape. Upper rafters inside are open up to about 25 feet where roofing is.

Will be using a new wood for floors and walls and hopefully find some cheap linoleum to throw on the floor.

I don't want to treat for pests we don't have.

Would you put anything down as preventative under shavings or anywhere?

Will use deep litter not sure we have room for poop trays nor the time to clean them out 3 times per week or daily like many here do tho I love the idea.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Can you please post pictures of the interior of the pole barn?
What is the current flooring?
If it is soil, I would not put a wood floor down, especially if you are intent on using DLM.
I would also put up a net or something to prevent birds from flying too high into the rafters if they can reach them.
What kind of ventilation is in the barn?

Hi Dobie

It's not built yet so no pics yet.

Floor will be subflooring plus laminate on top. We are building an interior coop fully enclosed from the predators here with vents cut in everywhere plus vents in the roof area.

I will revisit once we are closer I think and post pics then.
