Hello!
My husband and I got our verrrrry first babies in Feb 2012 and we are absolutely in love!
They were one day old and are now 8 weeks. We got them mainly for fertilization for the garden and secondly eggs, but had no idea what fun we were getting ourselves into!

They are the cutest sweetest littles! We could (and have) watch them for hours!

We have started out with
2 silkies (MY FAV!!!) "chikita" and "mo"
2 black sex links "sadie" and still nameless
2 rhode island reds still nameless
1 welsummer still nameless

We originally were planning on getting 4, but then when I went to pick them up I needed more! and the lady told me that the likely hood of one or more dying is possible so we got more. And they are all alive and well!

They are so much fun.
I have come to this forum often for tips and advice and things to look for and it has been verrrry helpful so i finally took the time to join!

The babies are going to be ready to be outside soon so I am building a coop out of pallets and an old rabbit hutch.
I will have to post some pics as I go. I have seen tons here that are so amazing so I am excited to get started on mine!

Hi! I am new also, welcome!! Like you I have been coming this site for a month and just joined last night. Good luck with the coop. The whole first time chicken thing is so much fun just like you said!! We looooove it!! Oh, and we built our coop out of an old shed, my guy is very handy!! Nice to meet'ya! :)
