Hello from Sandy, Utah!
I ordered 4 baby chicks that are supposed to ship next week. I have never kept chickens before, so I'm a little nervous and also super excited. I ordered a cream legbar, a salmon faverolle, a silver penciled plymouth rock, and a fibro easter egger. I just finished fixing up a couple coops that I got from a friend of mine. I'm still figuring out how I want to do a larger run area around the coops. I'm looking forward to this new adventure!
Cheers,
Meghan

Hi Meghan! Warmest welcome to Backyard Chickens. This is a wonderful place full of knowledgeable and helpful people.

Congrats on your upcoming additions! One thing I like to have for day old shipped chicks is save a chick electrolyte mix and/or poultry nutridrench. You add according to directions to their water. It helps get some extra vitamins and minerals in them after the stress of shipment. Not sure if you have tractor supply in UT, but any farm store should have it.

Having chickens is a lot of fun and they are fairly easy keepers. You will love having your own eggs, it's absolutely fantastic, especially if you like to bake.

Definitely reach out any time here as you start your chicken owning journey, people here are eager to help and have a wealth of experience. The forums have tons of information as well.

Look forward to having you here. Take care!
