Brand spanking new to the Backyard Chicken game :-)

Hello all!

My family is finally getting into the Backyard chicken adventure. I live in North Dallas on two acres of land with 4 boys ages 8, 7, 6, and 4. We have a nice area all set up and waiting for tomorrow when it's officially chicken time!

The plan for now is to get 4 chicks, all hens. Two Australorps and two Ameraucanas.

They little ones will be about 3 weeks old when we get them (4pm tomorrow). We are set up with water, feed, and a space to call their own well away from our three dogs.

I am looking for any and all tips, advice, anything that you expericed BYC members have to offer.

Names are taking shape. Thus far three of the four kiddos have picked out a moniker for their chickens: Snow, Cutie, and Christopher (cosmic apologies to the hen joining our family who will become Christopher).
