I had 2 broody hens one hatched and had to bring her and her babies into our attached garage in a dog kennel. The problem is the other hen I went out to the coop and she had abandoned her nest and started to set on some other eggs so I gathered all the eggs in coop and brought her up to the house also, so here is the problem she is extremely thin I got her to eat some scrambled eggs, yogurt and some chick start and grow and drink water, then she started wandering around garage clucking the where is the babies noise and then my other hen that has babies started clucking lightly, like she does when the babies come out and she's showing them food. I but the one without babies in a smaller dog carrier with food and water but I feel really bad. How long will it take to break her and when should put her back out to the coop?
Its nice to see that people actually answer certain post thanks everyone I thought this was a forum to get help and advice. But I guess you really need to be known here. So I guess either I posted in the wrong place, probally not due to the fact that it is chicken behaviors or that I may have done or said something along the way to offend some one. Oh well either way I've gone unanswered. So I'll do a google search or slip into some other forum Thank you for the help

My broody little hen took about 2 weeks to go back to laying.....it took about a week of me keeping her off the nest before she stopped making the "momma" noise and desperately trying to get in to the nest! They can be pretty pitiful, but I promise she will be fine.
I've also heard that confining the hen in a wire cage that is hung up off the ground (so the air flows underneath her too) helps, but I personally haven't tried that one myself.
