Hey. Very new to chickens. There is a long story behind how I got these but it was last minute, I was told they were silkies but it was from a quaint family farm and likely mixed with something else as they don’t look like pure silkies but have some of the traits.

They were born around August 20, 2024 (is what I was told) I got them as chicks on September 5, 2024 and they were little chicks. My white and cream ones seem like pullets (I think) very docile and follow the black ones around, more dainty and docile.

Now the black ones are confusing me.

Black Betty was initially the smallest, and would follow the other dark chick initially but in the last couple weeks has had A HUGE growth spurt and is very bossy and dominant. (see photos below)

(This is my black Betty.. or I guess black Bennie? Please advise)

Sorry photos aren’t the best but it’s getting a comb now and not a silkie looking comb so any advise what breed? Or is it still a silkie?

Now next question mark is Roo initially this was the chick was the biggest and the boss. They ruled the roost until recently. They are no longer growing as fast as black Betty (but still growing, drinking and eating so I don’t think it’s sick). And also what I thought were saddle feathers or a big comb just doesn’t seem to be growing as fast anymore and it’s tail feathers are getting more pullet looking. So I have no idea! 🤷‍♀️ what do you think cockerel or pullet?

Now because I’m a proud first time chicken mama. Here are picks of my babies!!! The white ones name is Rosie and she always messes up her hair and looks like me on a stressed day!! 🤣 and the cream one is Blanche and she is just a fancy lady (I think) always.

Anyways!!!! Any advice on the breed and sex I would love since I’m new to this! But I know it’s hard to sex them sometimes so I’ll have to wait till someone crows or spring for eggs. TIA!
