Hello,
At 3 weeks I am noticing that my salmon faverolle pullet definitely has a different physical structure than my Barred rocks and Golden Comets. I am hoping it is just due to them being different breeds but as a first-time chicken Mama, I want to make sure I am not missing anything. She is the same age, but slightly shorter, but rounder than the rest, which I think is normal, but she does lay down more and also prefers to sit while eating (she eats a lot) The rest of my flock always stand while eating. I have attached a picture of sweet Ruthie a. Please let me know your thoughts and if there is anything I can do to help her or if I even need to be worried.

Looks like a male. That would explain his larger build and larger crest.
I was a little worried when her coloring started in, but all the darker feathers are fading into lighter shades of brown and silver tones rather than getting darker and nine are actually black. I read that a higher quality Faverolles even the hens have silver coloring and not just browns. Really hopping this is the case because she’s my favorite. She is also very sweet whereas the rest of the flock is undeniably more rowdy, which doesn’t say male to me. The build is concerning though. Thank you for your advice!

@Eggcessive has/had Favorelles so she may be able to help you better.

To me she looks o.k., BUT you mention she lays/sits down to eat. Show us your housing and feeder set-up. What are you feeding? Attached ar

Ruthie is very cute!
I am feeding un medicated Purina's 18% chick starter feed. They transitioned this week from 20% protein to and 18% protein. They transitioned very well. Its been 1 day of fa ull 18% protein diet and today we have all healthy poops :) Attached is an image of their current home and feeding set up. Any suggestions are appreciated

* None are actually black! Sorry for the confusion

Set up looks fine to me.
The sitting down to eat worries me though.

I will have to disagree with a reply above, pretty sure she is a hen, but at that age nothing is 100% certain with bare eye
Now I myself am experiencing a wry neck problem for the first time so I can't help much there

I agree. That was the more concerning thing to me as well. She does drink normally and stands during that. Her poops are healthy and she is fluttering as well as the rest. I just had them all out of the Brodder and she fluttered and explored with the rest of her flock. Thank you so much for you input. This is a new adventure for me and although I have read two full books and a million blog posts (maybe that’s my problem) I see how experience from others is the best resource.

Thank you! Your hen suspicion is music to my ears and magic to my soul. I am hoping I was just blessed with a more unique and colorful hen😍 She truly is the sweetest of the bunch and I will be unable to keep any Roo’s in an effort to keep the peace with my neighbors. I do have a fantastic home in line for any surprises though! Thank you for your feedback! I hope your situation with Wry neck improves.
