Breed for Big Eggs

I have a black sex link that lays everyday. Her eggs are too big to fit in an egg carton. She is the only one I have so I have no idea if she is a freak or it is normal.
Pic: hers is on the right mid to upper, pretty easy to tell which it is. For comparison the EE eggs are large and fill an egg carton all the way.

PS:::: Great looking basket of eggs:D

Thanks - we like to have a variety of egg colors, so we have an interesting motley crew (or flock). Up side is we can tell each one apart, no 2 chickens even look remotely alike in our backyard

Our black sex links hens also lay really huge eggs so maybe it is genetics?

I bet it is - I know you get them from crossing a RIR roo and a BR hen. Guess you get the best of both, then get it supersized

I am not kidding about not being able to get them in a egg carton, I have 1 that has no lid just for her eggs, they are about twice the size of a store bought large egg. She also is a very reliable layer, she lays 7 days a week and only will skip a day maybe once in 3 weeks. She did not slow down at all during the winter, for pure laying ability this is a great bird - she easily beats our white leghorn, both in size and in volume.

I have black sex-links and golden comets. They lay huge brown eggs. I know what you mean about not fitting into a carton.

My wife bought this clear plastic egg holder that goes into the fridge. These eggs will not even think about sitting down in the egg cup. They just sit on top.

I take eggs to work and sell them. People can't believe the size of the eggs. Then I pull out a dozen bantam eggs. They get a real kck out of it.

Muy assistant buys a dozen large brown eggs and a dozen bantam eggs. Her daughter will only eat the bantam eggs because she says they are her size. The parents get the large eggs.

I wonder if you breed a sexlink hen and sexlink roo, will you still get the quantity and large egg size???

Not sure, but I am fairly sure that you will lose the sex link trait (at least that's what I read).
