So we got 2 sets of straight run bantam chicks from TSC, they get their chicks from Hoover Hatchery. The first 4 are 3.5 week silkies, I suspect 2 cockerels and 2 pullets. The ones I think are the “boys” are bigger, stand straighter, bolder, feathering faster (especially legs), and I think bigger combs. The recent babies are 5 days old and I rescued them from death, poopy butt was BAD. They had washed butts Friday but by Sunday they were caked and getting weak. They gave them to me to try and save them since they wouldn’t make it another day in the crowd. I lost a buff (?) silkie by last night. The other 5 seem to be doing well, only one needed cleaning today. Of the remaining I know 2 are white silkies, I think (?) 2 might be frizzle Cochins? They are black and yellow chicks with black and white wings coming in. The 5th chick I think is Mille fluer de’ uccle? All are feather footed. Thanks for any thoughts you may have. The first sets are suspected Roos then the ladies. Please excuse the messy feet, the new babies were having a hard time and are eating wet food. The next 3 birds are the questionable breeds. One black chick has longer feathers than the other. Both seem to curl away from their bodies.

I have 4 white silkies from TSC and a whole bunch of others where I'm from they dont know what the chicks even are they told me they are all pullets but out of my 20 chicks I got I believe 6 roos I'm not happy cause I live in the middle of the city and I have a 4yr old roo I need to rehome the babies . But on the other note I'm so happy you were able to save them they are all beautiful.. thankyou for sharing them .

Luckily we don’t live in city limits and Roos are not an issue, unless we get too many of course. For future reference the bantams at TSC (maybe most feed stores?) are usually straight run due to their small size and vent sexing. How old are your silkies now? Ours are young but already so fun. Good luck rehoming Roos.

I don't know about genders but looks like you have white silkies, mottled cochins, and partridge cochins (sorry I can't tell if they are the same chick or not)
