Much easier to ID feathered juveniles than downy chicks. Sometimes the hatchery includes information on the packing slip. Sometimes they can tell you if you call. But otherwise, you'll just have to wait and see what they look like as they grow.

Ideal's site is still down. I don't know if they sell bantam Rhode Island Reds, but I would guess the options for bantam red chicks is limited to a few breeds. However, do they sex their bantams? You might have straight run.

I was guessing rhode islands as well. The packing list said "males included for warmth" I hope they r only straight run. I'll hav to post pics in a few weeks to see of r Roos or some hens

Oh, the peanuts are bantams, too? I'd expect they are straight run, then. And yes, that really limits the options but knowing what they offer would sure help.

OT, but I can't believe such a big company hasn't bothered to invest a bit of $ to improve their website/hosting! It's really crash prone and looks dated.

I think they r bantams. I was trying to figure out if they were cuz they r bigger than my silkies and Cochins, but r smaller than my standard Rhode Island reds so I just thought they were a little bigger of bantams or it was because they were cockerels
