If you got them from a feed store or hatchery (which it looks like you have done), these aren't a breed but a commercial hybrid mix known as a Red Sex Link....and they are pullets.

They are generally amiable birds and prolific layers of large brown eggs, albeit their best years generally are the first 2 and they can significantly slow down thereafter.

The hybrid mix is result of a red based roo over a silver (white-ish) based female to genetically create chicks that are gender identifiable at hatch by the down color.

Female chicks are reddish fawn in color and grow up to be red birds with white trim (the silver leakage).

Male chicks are yellow down in color and grow up to be white birds with some red barring on the wings and sometimes some red leakage.

This gender trick only works the first generation. If you breed a RSL to a RSL you simply get red birds of both genders (with some white trim).

Enjoy them. They are wonderful additions to any layer flock.
