I just ran the Lavender roo over Buff Columbian hens (which yours *mostly* are, though they don't have black at the hackles) and it was as I thought...black chicks, both sexes.

My girls below I was told are maybe some type of Orpington. Can anyone give a guess to what they are?

Orpingtons are supposed to have white feet, and yours have yellow feet.
Orpingtons are supposed to have red earlobes, and those have white in the earlobes.
Buff Orpingtons are supposed to have buff/gold feathers all over, with no black.

Those hens are definitely not Buff Orpingtons, and probably not any other kind of Orpington either. (If they were some color of Orpington, they would be poor-quality ones because of the leg color and the earlobes and probably some other points as well.)

They don't look quite right for any pure breed of chicken I can think of, so I think they are probably some kind of a hybrid layer-type chicken. I don't know what specific name to call them. That makes it hard to look up what they are called or what genes they have, but is otherwise not a problem.

@NatJ is completely right. I didn't notice the leg or ear color but looked at body shape and feather coloring....which of course isn't Buff but possibly an incomplete Buff Columbian....which many breeds can come in. Orps, Rocks and Wyandottes come in a kazillion colors. However, your birds are none of those.

Upon enlargening photo, those are bright yellow legs, and Orps have white legs. Ditto with ear color. Those are white earlobes. Not a Rock either as again should be red ear lobe not white.

They remind me of something I've seen and can't quite place. A hybrid flavor of the day from one of the hatcheries?

Probably a really good layer.
