They look like red sex links, or gold comets.

Maybe it is just the picture, but what sort of combs do they have, they don't quite look like single combs?

They look like crosses, maybe with some Rhode Island Red (or other "red" breed). The coloring is a little light, so some Buff Orpington in them is a remote possiblity as well.

Agreed, they don't look quite right to be Red Sex Links. They look an awful lot like a cross between a RIR or Production Red and something else.
