First, let me say that I am not a breeder. do not show birds and no nothing about this topic. We want to do this just for fun. I hatched a gorgeous Maran and also an adorable lavender Ameraucana pullet. I would love to breed them next Spring. Any idea what colors may come from them? Is there any chance of getting her big muffs and his fluffy feathered feet in the chicks?

Hi there! I am curious about how this match turned out? I have beautiful french standard Black Copper Marans and am running to Columbia, SC to pick up some Lavender Americauna chicks this weekend. I too would like to see how they would turn out. I have read that they will have olive eggs but I'm curious about the appearance of the resulting birds. :)

We haven't don it yet. Someone else owns the roo and we are afraid it might be too stressful taking my girls out of them habitat. I so want olive eggs.

You will get black birds, males will most likely leak some non-black in the pyle zone and the female will be black ( may leak some red in the hackles head region). Both will have a weird looking comb, a mixture of a single and pea comb, with feathering on the shanks and feet, and muffs and beard. The muffs and beard should be smaller than the adult parent. The shank and foot feathering will be less than that found on the black copper marans.

I am assuming the parents are purebred for every set of genes. If the parents carry one allele in any set, then the results can be different; possible no muffs and beard and very little shank and foot feathering
