Breeding a hybrid with a pure breed?

I am new to the forum and don't know whether this is in the right section so please let me know if it is in the wrong section of the forum.
Just like I am knew to the website I am new to keeping chickens!
I was wondering whether I could breed a pure breed cockerel with a hybrid hen? Hypothetically could I breed a pure breed cuckoo Maran cockerel with a hybrid red sex linked hen? Would this produce deformed chicks or something? Or is crossing a hybrid hen with a pure bred cockerel a giant waste of time? And if I did cross these breeds what would the offspring be like?

Yes, you posted in the right place!

From the sounds of it, your little experiment should turn out nicley. I'm thinking something along the lines of a good sized bird with red barring, and the hens should lay light brown eggs. Of corse, I could be COMPLETLY wrong because I don't know exactly what your birds look like and I don't know the genitics of your hybrid, but if I'm right... well let's just say that you'll have some pretty birds on your hands.

Post some pictures! I'd love to see how it works out!

I got her from a hatchery but they told me she was a hybrid before hand. lol. Chickens can be so fun!

6 out of the seven eggs have pipped!!

Now waiting very anxiously to see if any hatch!! Will post pics if they do

I create purebred X hybrids all the time

done many different one

leghorn crosses
araucana crosses
legbar crosses

and they come out nice

the only thing to remember is don't breed family (no incest) that causes deformities

so in effect a Marans and a RSL is totally different breeds so no interbreeding will occur
