I have a blue silkie roo that is nice except his face is a little reddish.
I also have a really nice black hen except she has a bit of gold in her hackles. When I bred this hen before to a blue roo I got all blue
cockerals. Some had the gold as well which which I did not like.
Is it worth my time to try to breed her again to a different blue roo or should I just get a new black hen?
The roo has very soft feathering though. I can't explain it. It is a little different than I have seen in silkies. I guess I should just take a pic of him.

You should not use the hen in breeding. Off coloring, once established in a line, is impossible to eliminate. Even if she produces offspring not showing the off coloring, the genes will still be there. Don't use her or any of her offspring for breeding. Nreeding black x blue produces approximately 50% black, 50% blue, but unless you're talking dozens or more birds, it's usually not split down the middle.

Can you post pics of the male?

I'll take some pics of him next week. I have to work this weekend. I haven't bred her since that one time. Thanks

I'll try to get a pic in here. They are all dirty from rain and sitting. They hatched two times this summer so they have been sitting a long time. I think the white roo may pull blue boys feathers out.

I don't see any gold in her hackles. She is just faded from the sun.
