1). I have fantails and west of englands and was wondering what time of the year they will start breeding? Because mine are breeding now in the winter.

2). I have 2 that paired for some reason, but it is a female west of England and a male Indian fantail. And I was wondering when they have babies will the babies suffer any genetic disorders or will they be okay( I am worried because she is so tiny and the male is 2x the size of her)?

3). I have some Indian fantails that have eggs and babies and was wondering if they are suppose to have any in the winter?

Thanks,

some pigeons will breed all through the winter, pigeon breeds are like dogs, they are all the same species so they can breed with each other with no problem

A lot of breeders separate males and females in the winter. I have an open flock(the birds of one breed are all together in a room) and I let mine breed year round. The only problem with winter breeeding is losing babys due to below freezing temps. As the babys get to the "quill" size the parents don't sit on them as much. If the temp is below freezeing they can chill and die in just a few minutes. It reallys is hit and miss. You take your chances that they hit a warm spell at the right age! I have a pair of swiss mondaies that I had to bring inside my shed and put a light in the coop to keep the babys warm. As soon as they are feathered out good I will put them back.
