I have a welsummer bantam hen who always manages to escape the pen. So i just let her be free range. But while she was in the pen she was bred. I know she is very broody and twice she has raised chicks. My question is does she just have to be bred once to lay a cluster of eggs to set on? Or does she have to be bred daily for each egg? Idk ive never really thought about it. Im hoping its just once because I know she`ll go set and raise me some nice chicks!

For fertile eggs a chicken only needs to have successful breeding with a rooster and all the clutch of eggs most likely will be fertile

Awesome. Thanks! She was bred immediately by my who rhode island red roosters. About five mins apart and she was willing. She went back the next day too so I'm sure she was attacked again. So she should be bred. I really hope she lays a good clutch and sets. I love seeing a broody mom tote her little bitties around :D
