Breeding to get Silked Lavender Ameraucanas/EE

Ohhh @HollyParks what a fun project!!!! Im working on similar right now - the goal is lavender silkies (or at least silkie feathered birds) that lay a blue egg! We should keep in touch about this project!! I already have some 2nd and 3rd generations growing out.
I’d love to see pictures too!

Yes!! That would be so fun! I’ve been breeding silkies to lavender bantam ameraucanas. The crosses from that lay the cutest tiny blue/green eggs, and they carry lavender. Then I have some paint colored chicks that are from a lavender bantam/silkie crossed back to a silkie (they are 1/4 lav bantam) so we will see if they lay a blue egg. I might test one of those paint boys for both the blue egg gene and the lav gene. The girls I will probably just wait and see once they lay. Attaching a pic of the banty eggs - the lightest one is the purebreds lav bantam and the other two are 1/2 silkie. And here’s a pic of my grow outs. The lavender chicks - 3 of them are lavender silkies that I got from shipped eggs. And 3 are the 1/2 silkie 1/2 ameraucana bantams crosses which I also had shipped… they will all help to speed the project along!!

They are GORGEOUS! I can’t wait to start!
Yes, I recommend the tests! I did it with my roosters and it confirmed that they are both O/O. So that helps with a lot!
I’m just going to use my Silked Ameraucanas and a Standard Lavender Ameraucana. It’ll take some time but I’m excited to see how they do!
