So I’m building quite the client base already! So far I’ve only been hatching eggs bought from others, and selling the chicks. However, we are planning on keeping trios of the following breeds for next years hatches. I see so many people selling barnyard mixes and making good money on them.. my question is, should I keep my plan of doing separated purebred trios, or should I do a couple barnyard mix groups (based on size/temperament)? I do NOT sell for show quality, just pets/food.
•Black Australorp
•Plymouth Barred Rock
•Brahma
•Black Copper Maran
•Cochin
•Indian Runner (Ducks)
•Millie Fleur D’Uccle (?)
•Orpington

•Salmon Faverolle
•Silkie (?)
•Speckled Sussex
•Wyandotte

Your plan is good. IMHO, you can't make money on barnyard mixes.
If you concentrate on one or two breeds, perfect them, you will be able to claim a much bigger price.
You might want to see what is desired in your area by going to poultry swaps and seeing what people want.
Those are some fairly popular breeds across the country but perhaps not in your area.

Something to keep in mind that there are many other great varieties of these breeds other than barred PR, S Sussex, Faverolles.
