I have a sliver laced rooster and hen. I also have a golden laced rooster and hen. If I breed the sliver laced with silver laced and the golden with golden will they stay the same colors? What will happen if I breed silver with gold?

Yes.

What will happen if I breed silver with gold?
Silver rooster x gold hen gives silver chicks (but the "silver" may look yellowish or have gold bits, instead of being the pretty white it is supposed to be.)

Gold rooster x silver hen gives sexlinked chicks. The daughters will be gold, the sons will be silver (but as above, maybe not a pretty silver.)

Since all of the parents are laced, the chicks will also be laced.

how would you get the pretty silver laced and gold with no yellow in it?

Just breed silver to silver, and gold to gold, if you want to keep the colors looking right.

The not-pretty silver should only happen if you cross the colors.
There are lots of genes that affect what shade of gold is on the chicken (not too light, not too dark, not too red, etc.)
There are lots of genes involved in making the silver look properly right.
When you cross the colors, you get a combination of all those genes, and it tends to produce not-pretty silvers. I think the golds look mostly fine when you cross the colors, but they might not be quite the perfect shade either.

Here's a thread with some suggestions:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/chicken-genetics.1520369/

In chickens, there are some genes that affect how the color is distributed (laced, spangled, columbian, black breasted red, etc.) Some of those genes interact with each other to make different effects, too.

And there are some other genes that affect the individual colors (black can become blue, gold can become red or cream, etc.)

And there are some genes that override everything else (examples: white bars across any color of feathers, or turn the whole chicken white.)

It's either an interesting puzzle, or a confusing mess, depending on whether you like that kind of thing

I personally like Standard of perfection. Though it doesn’t have everything, and is very pricey. Might not have exactly what you want, either. Dont think it shows how to get certain colors, but does give good knowledge on “perfect” looking chickens. That tells you stuff for showmanship on some breeds and everything. I would be more then happy to look up a breed for you in it though, because its about $100 to get it, and if you just want to see a few breeds probably not worth the investment.

Its really just showing comb types, anatomy, and showing chickens at shows. Like disqualifications. But does have a verity of poultry, not just chickens.

i wanted to try my hand at blue laced red but from what i have read it is so hard to get that color. I am just confused what kind of hen and what kind of rooster you need for it?

Hm, the book would probably not have that. It doesn’t have every breed in there either. I do like it for showmanship and some small knowledge on breeding though.
