Is there any way to tell a cock from within the first week. I have a strong suspicion by the way it's acting.

If they are sex links or other breeds with certain traits you can tell during the first week, otherwise most you need to wait until they are 5-10 weeks of age.

Well I got a couple of silkies unsexed and one of them is acting very bossy. I can post pick of "it" in detail.

Most time a chick with attitude is a rooster, though sometimes it's just a bossy pullet. Are they all bantams or is that a giant silkie chick?

I have 2 bantoms and 4 pullets - week old

I just got today 8 pullets and 2 straights - a couple days old

So the answer is he/she is one of two bantoms (unsexed) of a a week (10 days) old....

I will post pic of the two compared side by side.

Thanks

The tall silkie would catch my eye also. Does it always stand tall and commanding like that? Silkies are one of the most difficult breeds to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they lay or crow. So please don't rush to do something rash. The bird could also be a bold female that will end up bossing the others.
