What is a good and not too expensive brewers yeast for my ducks? I found AniMed pure Brewers Yeast by the bucket. Are they good or should I buy the stuff for making beer? I'm new to animals other than dogs and cats so I'm going to be on here a lot. Please don't think I'm stupid, I'm just ignorant.

I have seen very few insulting responses in the four or five years I have been on the forum. Welcome!

We have not felt the need to add brewer's yeast because we were able to find a turkey-waterfowl starter crumb. But I wanted to welcome you and encourage you not to feel embarrassed about asking.

I have penciled out a guess about how much brewer's yeast to use, and here are my thoughts.

...
Okay, two tablespoons of brewer's yeast contains 10 mg of niacin, based on this page http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/custom/1323569/2

The guesswork is in how much water a duckling actually ingests in a day. If a duckling actually drinks a half a cup of water a day, it would be getting (16 cups in a gallon, 32 half cups in a gallon . . . . 150 divided by 30, more or less) 5 mg of niacin from water with 150 mg niacin per gallon. Which would be about a tablespoon of brewer's yeast.

So I am thinking, about a tablespoon a day per three ducklings...

Are yours showing symptoms of niacin deficiency? Just wondering.

I have one with neurological symptoms like wanting to stand and falling every time. I think he isn't trying all the time his legs just go straight. I was asking questions in the post "duckling keeps rolling onto it's back" . He had one seizure so far that I know of. I really hope he get better soon.
