Please take care to watch your comments so this thread doesn't get shut down. This initiative is something I think many BYCers would like to be aware of so let's just keep it at that - thanks! JJ

I believe something like 81% of Sweden's population speaks English, and that many signs and ads are in English.

I can readily accept that most Swede's speak English because otherwise, in common with so many other languages, few foreigners would be able to understand them when they travel abroad. It's true of most European countries. I'm surprised, though, that the use of English extends to supermarket advertisements in their own country.

If you look at the phone booth, it says "Telefon" (Swedish word for telephone) and then in the background to the left of the phone booth a company logo says "AGA Gasol" (Swedish 'gasol' is a type of fuel). Coop Konsum, the company noted on the poster as no longer selling eggs from caged hens, is a Swedish supermarket. I think we can reasonably assume the picture is from Sweden

JJ Incidentally, the small print to the left of the words "Coop Konsum" say "A small step towards happier hens"

Seemed like you were maybe questioning it because of the sign being in English

Anywho.....would like a copy of that poster me thinks.
