Hello all! You guys can call me Brindle, Finch, or Sophie - I'm a total chicken newbie and am expecting my first chicks around the 16th!

I'm currently awaiting a Wyandotte (Silver Laced), Orpington (Buff), Australorp, and two Cochins (Silver Laced and B/B/S!). I also have a little silkie bantam roo coming as well, because we saw them and absolutely fell in love with them (he's already been dubbed Mr. Muppet :p). Not looking for anything other than a couple eggs a week and some friendly chikkys! We live on a rather big property with plenty of woods and open ground, so chickens are a perfect fit for us!

We have two (indoor) cats, and two dogs! I enjoy ceramics, horseback riding (when I get a chance to, it's been a while), and writing! I'm currently studying to be a phlebotomist!

I'm very happy to meet all of you and can't wait to read more about chickens!

Welcome to the Flock. I was very fortunate to have a great phlebotomist during my pregnancy. I was very apprehensive about the several blood tests I had done. But she was fantastic, I never felt a thing.Plus she gave me a sucker every time I saw her.

Thank you both for the warm welcome! c:

I'm hoping to be the best phlebotomist I can be! I really love the healthcare field, I just haven't found a position that clicked with me yet. Having a much better time with phlebotomy than anything so far, though!

G'Day from down under Brindle :frowWelcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
