Bringing home my red bellied parrot "Cloe" next Friday!!!!!!!!

My question is. . . . .Can my chickens pass a bug to my parrot? Or can I pass something from chicken to parrot??? I understand the good habits of cleaning the coop an all. I just wanted to know if it was possible?

I have two lovebirds and have never had any problems, but I do not handle them, where as Cloe an I will spend a great deal of time together.

Most illness and virus's do not cross from chicken to parrot. However there are some bacteria that can be passed to all birds. I have kept parrots and poultry for many many years now and have never brought anything inside the house from the poultry yard. HOWEVER, I would suggest you wash your hands thoroughly after coming in from visiting your chickens before touching your parrots or any of their surroundings. Why take the chance.

Yes, it's possible, I guess. They can get stuff from wild birds, though.
