We have 16, 3 week old chicks. As well as 2 turkeys. They are feathering up nicely. Their new home is being built. It should be ready in a few days. It's a 12'Wx12'Dx11'H coop, and a 25'x25' pen, with 26 nesting boxes, and LOTS of roosting space.
Another 17 chicks, are on their way, in a week, from a large hatchery, handling the breeds we decided to buy.
We are new at this, and haven't had any chickens, previously.
Should we consider bringing in a couple of adult hens, to help things along?
We are on our way to the CherokeeBirds Spring Fling, and wonder if we ought to bring back some hens, with a motherly instinct? If so, are any breeds more likely to be good for this purpose?
Thanks for your help.
