Hey guys

I have had chickens all my life and have hatched a few runs out of the old hovabators with the typical results.

My biggest question is:

I sat the eggs on a Friday night. Last Wed. I locked down, filled both troughs with water and closed the humidity window a hair more than 1/2 way.

I had my first chick out by 3 pm yesterday and have hatched a few overnight.

With today being the 21st day I am assuming the others are on their way...

OK, the question.

There is no room in there like the hovabators, I am worried the chick might have leg problems. They are pretty much standing around on the other eggs.

I don't want to get any out til this evening or maybe even tomorrow morning

Any ideas?

Interesting question. I'm about to hatch a dozen eggs in an Eco 20, too. I'm making hatching "cups" to contain them a bit, thinking they'll be crowded, though not as much as yours seem to be. I think I'd still leave them in there in order to keep the unhatched ones safe. Just keep an eye on them through the window!

What size and how many eggs are in there?

I had 15 silkie eggs in the beginning of March and it did get crowded.
I used the rubbery shelf liner on the bottom of the plastic grating. This stopped the rolling around of unhatched eggs and is a great surface for those little feet.

Good luck with your hatch
