brinsea Mini advance II liner question

I used the incubator for the first time, it came with cardboard as a liner. I used what it came with. I noticed by the time the last two eggs were getting ready to hatch it was soaking wet and nasty. I see some use shelf liner, what other materials have you successfully used.

It took forever for the last chick to dry off and I'm wondering if it was because of the cardboard liner staying wet.
