I'm very new to hatching. I bought a Brinsea Mini Advance 7-egg incubator about a month ago and started 7 eggs. At about day 15 the heater/fan stopped making noise, but the temperature gauge never changed. I just assumed it was normal. But here I am at day 21 and I don't have any peps, and the eggs don't look like they've developed any further than my last candling. Also, I haven't needed to add any water to the humidity vessel since day 15 either. I think these embryos are lost, unfortunately.

So the questions are, should the fan/heater unit continue to work on this unit for all 21 days? And should I need to add water to the humidity vessel every couple days if the unit is functioning normally?

Thanks!

I am new to incubating too but I am using the same incubator and I have read the booklet front to back and it says nothing about the fan going off, I would ring the supplier as I would suspect it is faulty, I add a spot if water every 3 days to keep the humidity above 30 and below 45 but that's just personal choice, hope your chicks are ok

Hi,,,

ANother newbie here who just finished her first attempt at the Brinsea Mini Advance. Out of the 7 I set, 4 made it to lockdown, and 4 hatched. My fan ran all the way through the 21 days and after the display read to 0, it keeps going until you stop the machine manually. My last chick was a late hatch at Day22 and he just hung out in there and everything kept going. I know lots of people hatch without fans, but since the machine is supposed to do that, I would have it serviced after your eggs hopefully hatch. You should get what you paid for ! I would call Brinsea immediately and inquire about that. If you haven't all ready registered your machine, you should do it ASAP. It helps to have it registered. It is normal to have to add water every three days or so to check the water level. I only filled one side of the reservoir as it states then upon lockdown I filled both sides. Good Luck! Keep us posted.
