hello all! I'm about to begin my fourth hatch this week in my classroom! I'm very excited as this year the local newspaper is doing an article about my agriculture education curriculum for my preschoolers! Needless to say I'm feeling the added pressure for a good hatch!

I just purchased and set up my brisnea mini advanced incubator - it is too small for my humidity Monitor. I've read that people have success keeping the water basin half full. Can anyone share any tips or tricks for maintaining steady humidity? I would really appreciate the help!

It seems to me that the humidity inside the incubator depends a lot on the humidity of the room it is in, so it's difficult to say that what works for one person would work for you. If I fill one side in my Brinsea my humidity is too high, for others it seems to be just fine. I have a cheap Fluker's hygrometer, it's not much larger than an inch across, so it fits in mine easily, and it was easy to calibrate as well. You could also just be sure to keep track of the air cells throughout the incubation, which would give you a good idea of where your humidity is at, and where it needs to be. Good luck! And make sure you run your incubator for a few hours before adding the eggs to get the temp where you need it.
