I have 3 araucana chicks, 5 and a bit weeks old. One black, one blue and a partridge or red black, not sure of the correct term.

Please could anyone with knowledge of this breed give me advice on what to watch for to tell the sex of them. If male, do they get their hackle and saddle feathers, at the same age as other breeds or later? First is the black chick

The partridge colored one looks like a pullet and I'm not sure about the other too, but the I'm leaning toward the blue being a cockerel and the black being a pullet. Also, they should mature at the speed of most other breeds :)

That's interesting. I thought that the black might be a pullet and the other two cockerels because those two kept facing each other off. What do you see that makes you think that they are pullets, coloring, comb? I am trying to get some idea of the physical traits that might point to the gender.

Right now I'm looking at comb size and redness on the black and blue ones and coloring of the partridge one. The coloration of the partridge one looks like a pullet's to me, although the comb is fairly large. The black has a nice and small comb with little redness and the blue has a fair amount of redness and his wattles look developed. They are so young right now, but these are my guesses. To know for sure I would post more pictures in a few weeks :)
