I converted a woodshed and dog run into a coop and turkey run; they'll free range on the front ten acres (6' goat fenced) once they get some age and size on them and understand where home is. Right now, they're a month old and they'll be enjoying a 15' x 30' dog kennel on pasture grass with a 6'deep, 6'tall x 8'wide former woodshed. Knowing that they're destined for bigness and not wanting them to hurt their delicate stems by jumping from any height, how high should I build their roost bar?

I have 4 Bourbon Reds and 5 BBB's living in the same enclosure.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

The roosts for the Bourbon Reds should be staggered in height from 4' to 6'. For the BBs, give them a bale of hay or straw to roost on.

I have been wondering the same thing. My baby Bronze are getting to big for there chicken gym. 😆

I let them roam a lot and really enjoy watching them work the tall weeds and pasture for bugs and seeds. I also discovered that when you run, they run behind you like a little turkey train.

They're very engaging, friendly and curious for birds. They've got more personality than my wife's beagle, too.

I totally agree with you. Mine do the exact same thing. I always have to watch my step so I don't step on there toes. I love having them be so social with me. They are always making me laugh.
