Brocken Leg

So my friend has a six month cockerel with a broken leg from an owl attack. He told me it was a clean break, and we don’t know how to splint it or cast it. I’m thinking a stick or metal rod duct taped to it to hold it in place, then cast it with plaster of Paris. Dumb idea? I’m not good with broken bones. Oh and I’m not going to be home till tomorrow.
