I seem to be having the same exact problem. Yesterday, I found three of my young chickens dead, and yes, flat like a pancake.
I do believe it is the coccidi bug. I started treating them on Sunday with the powder medicine in water that is recommended by all the experts on this Disease/Emergency Forum. I think they are right. When in doubt, treat them for Coccidious.
Every morning when I walk into my coop, I speak the words..."OK, whose dead today??" Some mornings I'm lucky, and
no one is dead.
My question.........At what age can I start treating the younger chickens for Coccidious? I start them all out on the Purina Medicated Chick feed. I have 16 chicks that are 6 weeks old. Is that too young for the proper coccidious treatment in their water?
I am using the Amprol 128 20% Amprolium Powder at 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water.
Can I give this to 6 week old chicks?
