My kids are new to showing and we are trying to get these birds to grow. We’ve been feeding 28% protein gamebird feed. Any suggestions for us? Appreciate any help!

1) When's the show? I show broilers and roasters and they have the same feed plan. The only difference is when you actually get them. If you have a summer show, you might be too early. Personally, I've tried three food programs and my LEAST favorite is Purina. You may find with a Purina fast grow food that your birds will gain a lot of fat and hardly any muscle, especially in the breast. I prefer Homestead Fastgorw from Hubbard Life. You'll find it at most feed stores and it's relatively cheap. It has 20% protein. 28% protein is way too much. Game birds have a very different diet. In the last few weeks, separate the birds you want to show into their own pen so they can get plenty of food. With two weeks left to show, I feed out on a higher quality food or simply rolled oats if weight will be a problem. Weigh your birds often so you can adjust your plan if needed. Good luck!

You're feeding way too much protein. What breed are they? How old?
Even broilers only need 18-20% protein. That much protein can cause serious issues.
So the rolled oats will help with weight gain?
NONONONONONO -Sorry if I gave you that impression, but rolled oats are a filler and prevent almost any weight gain. I was referring you to Homestead Fastgrow not rolled oats for weight gain. Sorry!
