Broken Beaks

lol well Im going to take good care of them. I got some antibiotic to put in the water to help them. I also am going to pick up some probiotic. I also got some DE to sprinkle in thier coop. I pulled the bag in there and when i opened it, it tipped over and exploded. I cleaned up most. I hope i didnt get too much on anything. They already seem happier. They really dont know how to be chickens. I put some fresh grass in there for them and the Leghorn just went nuts, whiel the other 2 kinda wandered about as if lost. they did thier best to peck but really didnt seem to know how to deal with it.

I want to put some greens in there but I dont want to overload the feeding and make them sick or make for a compostish coop. I gave them some spinach this morning, about 10 leaves. Snickers, the leghorn went nuts again, but the others seem lost. I dont think they were ever given fresh food. The hen is easting now, yesterday she was off her feed, but I think that might ahve been from such an eventful day. Today the Leghorn is not letting the little roo drink. I have to stand by the water to keep Snickers from pushing him away. I hope this doesnt cause him to become a mean rooster. I give him treats though, but only if he is being quiet and nice.

How kind of you to be taking care of these birds! I'd recommend contacting a vet over the phone, and asking about the best way to go about filing the beaks... I'd imagine that you can leave the the lower, unbroken portion of the beak a little bit longer than the top (not long enough to disturb the eating and pecking process, but long enough so that the jaw bone is unharmed.) The best of luck to you!!
