Broken bunny toenail

My bunny fell off of the top of his cage and his toenail ripped off. There is something sticking out of where it was. I can't tell if it is s bone or a piece of the nail. Please don't try to make me feel bad about it, I already feel terrible. I do not want to take him to the vet, because he is running around like normal and is not sensitive when I touch the toe. How do I tell if it is infected? What do I do to help him heal? Should I wrap it?

Welcome to BYC! I have never raised rabbits (though my sister has one for a pet) but my tom cat had something similar happen when he was fighting with another tom, and the outdoor layer of one of his nails came off, and after a few days he was fine. If he is not bothered by it, than I'm guessing he'll heal just fine.
