Broken egg prevention? Help

My birds clean everything out of there nest box and the eggs they lay always have a crack on the top of them from falling . How do I prevent this ? Drives me nuts torovide nesting materials and then have the girls clean it out to the bare wood.

I was having a little problem like you with them kicking out the hay and shavings,so I put a higher edge on the boxes. Also stops a selfish hen trying to roll out someone elses egg. You can go to eggcartons.com and check out nest pads also. There are probably others that sell them too but they come to mind.

Yes, raise the lip on the front of the nest box.

Same problem, knows what it is like. The way I solved this was just to create a higher lip, preventing some of the straw etc. to be kicked out.

can not do a lip, my boxes are not separate there all one giant box straight across. she throws it off to the side out and all around. Im going to get some carpet tomorrow and try that!
