broken leg

My chicken has a broken leg from falling on one side. It will stick out 90 degrees from her body. I suspended her into a wired "hammock" to keep weight off of her legs, but she got out of it and somehow wriggled up into her coop. She can't stand up. She's eating and still laying but I am worried that if she can't move around, she will die. Has anyone any remedy for a leg like this or is a visit to a vet in order?

It won't heal unless she's confined. Do you think it could be dislocated and not broken? If she were mine and it were sticking out like that, I'd probably opt for a vet. A sling, or hammock, is a good idea if she will stay in it, but I never had much luck with those. Plus, it will be a lot of work to keep her clean, etc, if she can't move around..she wont be able to dust or preen. Good luck, I hope she gets better!
