My standard bronze hen laid her first egg ever. i was woundering if they do like chickens and start out laying smaller eggs. if so how big will her eggs get??

My head says yes, my limited experience says no.

we have a 3 yr old hen, and several 10 month old hens. I do not see a difference in egg size, but the turkeys did not start til they were about 8 1/2 months old and chickens can start as early as 16 weeks. so the turkey hens were much older to start with before they began to lay.

I know that is not much help

goose, turkey, hen... but as im sure your aware there are laods of variaties of bronze turkeys and all can have variation in egg size. but not massive variation. iv never had a turkey that started laying small then got big, but theres always a first!!

Every now and then the hens might lay one that's bigger then their normal and smaller then their normal.
Had an egg much smaller then a chicken egg once and the eggs pre and post where normal size.
If I think of it that egg had no yolk.

I have a bunch of 10 month old Narragansett hens and their two mothers (now 2 year olds).

One of the young hens had a secret nest in a haystack in the barn. When I pillaged it and took the eggs away, I noticed the oldest ones (her first?) were a lot smaller than the newest. The smallest egg was about chicken egg size. Later eggs, 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer with larger diameter as well.

This week I discovered one of the mothers has started laying, and hers are noticably larger than her daughters' and nieces'. If I can take a photo, I will. However, my prize exhibit (the smallest egg) will be missing, as I put it outside as a "nest egg" and something ate it.
