Brooder light

When can I stop the brooder lamp???? My ducks are almost fully feathered and are 5 weeks old! They r huge and live in my garage! My husband is freaking out over the electric bill! About 37 degrees at night now!

What temp is the brooder at now? My plan for hatches this spring is to brood indoors for 4 weeks then move to an outdoor pen with a heat lamp at night. That of course assumes that daytime outdoor temps are >70.

If you've been lowering the temps 5° /wk then at 5 weeks they should be good outside to 65°

My ducklings didn't need the brooder light very long. Do they act like they still need it?

But mine were in my bathroom at 73°, so an unheated garage would be different
