Brooder question?

is it ok to have a towel for a floor in the brooder? Just new to this have eggs on lockdown should start hatching tomorrow. Thanks for the input.

Best to use paper towels. The floor is gonna get messy with poo, and will need to be replaced a couple times a day. Newspaper is too slippery, but paper towles have good enough grip. I wouldn't use regular towels, due to the mess, and they may try to tug the threads out.

After a week or so, you can use shavings.

Thanks I am going to use a Rubbermaid tote. I only have 15 eggs in the bator and tomorrow is day 17. My first quail.

The blue shop paper towels they sell at Walmart and auto parts stores work great.

I have some of them thanks. What do I need to look for when the eggs start hatching. Day 17 will be at 8 pm est.

I just use regular bath towels. Got tired of throwing away mountains of paper towels. I just shake them out, hang on the fence and hose off then throw them in the washer.
