Hello everyone. I am a newbie and am preparing for the arrival of my first batch of chicks. I am expecting 28 day olds on the 12th of June. Dominiques. I am preparing to build a brooder and I am trying to figure out how big I need to make it. I need it to last for the first 4-6 wks.
Planning on 1/4" harware cloth flooring so the droppings etc... fall through and can be easily changed out. The heat lamp will hang in one corner allowing the chicks to move around under it or get away from it. I was thinking that the dimensions would be around 5' long, 3' deep, about 3' high. I want to make sure that they have plenty of room.
