Ok,, enough is enough! I've got 6 ducks broody, I had 4 hens broody too, until this morning,,,, when I walked out and Charlotte, Duchess, and Puff N Stuff were missing. So I walked the yard again, I found them, Charlotte has a nest in another travel kennel, Duchess and Puff are sharing a dog house with nests,, oh and Midnight the duck that hatched the chicks????? She's on a nest again, so that's 7 broody ducks and 7 broody chickens,,, And I found a little nest with little white eggs,, who lays the white eggs???? No one will take credit and no matter how hard I watch that nest I can't catch anyone in it. It's like they have a look out "ok,,, she's inside, quick!!! Run!!! Lay your egg!! Wait wait!! She's coming back out,, stop stop,, hide,, ok ok ok,, no she's back in ok, lay the egg quick!!! Blue, cause a ruckus on the other side of the property, get her over there so ____ can lay her egg!!"

My broody is raising 5 chicks. I could use another broody to hatch some eggs I want to try. My last incubator attempt was bust after a temperature spike.

Ok now I feel guilty for the ill-will towards the broodies.... It started pouring and flooded two of the ducks nests, so I ran out and tried to get them above water. Hopefully it will be ok. I may not be too happy with them right now but I don't wish their eggs ruined!

I don't have a rooster so I don't have as much of a problem. But one of my Australorps has been broody for nearly a week now. I'll break her up, maybe, but I do like nature to run its course. Tired of ISA brown types who have no naturalness left - my latest flock, now retired and living a life of luxury, never molted and never went broody in 4 years!
So there's poor Scooter, sitting in her nest, all fluffed out when anyone goes in. Sitting on eggs? No. Sitting on a couple of egg shaped stones I use as egg substitutes.
Hey, maybe in another 2 weeks or so there'll be a little clutch of feathered stones running around with their Mama!

Goodness, I've got like 3 broody hens now and they're not even sitting on anything...just taking up space and causing the others to act like little drama queens because they want to lay in those nest boxes, not the other ones.

Hey, I'm a guy, what do I know about broody? Your a girl, you should know. Aren't you in the sisterhood? Didn't you see the movie? "The sisterhood of the traveling broody."

The only ones who are in the coop are sharing one nest and sharing broody duties too, the othes are all over the place anywhere they could find they fit. They free-range.

Congrats on the broodies. I thought we had it rough with 4 broody scovies and two broody hens.
