We have some Barred Rock chicks and they're about two weeks old now. I'm AMAZED at how fast they're growing, they seem bigger day by day. Long story short, they're about to outgrow their cardboard box brooder and we are going to have a hard time finding a cat-proof area of the house that we could keep a larger box in... I'm in northwest Washington state and we're having highs in the mid to high fifties and lows in the forties still... Would it be too cold to close up our little coop and hang a heat lamp and brood them in the coop?
