Brooding just hatched chicks with week old chicks

My second batch of chicks are starting to hatch this evening. I placed one chick in the brooder with last Fridays hatch and all seems well. I noticed the older chicks feeding makes the hatchling want to eat right away. Are there any problems with mixing 1 week old chicks with hatchlings?

I don't think there would be any issues unless it's picking on the younger ones

It can be excellent stimulus.....as long as older birds don't pick on newbies.

One potential issue is that the older chicks don't need as much heat and being taller, they may block the heat the younger ones need. Keep a close eye on them through the weekend.

I did it a lot. Watch them, of course, but I experienced no issues at all.

Good point on the heat access......what are you using for heat @Apis mellifera?
