I got 25 Cornish x Roos and 12 pullets yesterday. They are all under a week old. I hoped to let them all hang together. The three day old CCs seem to gang up on the biggest black pullets that are maybe almost a week old and twice as large currently. They were pecking at two of the 12 pullets (only the black ones). They totally ignored the smaller pullets that were RIRs and Buffs. I separated them yesterday after seeing this.

Is this a common problem? I would love for them to all hang out together for the next 8 weeks so want to put them back together. Any thoughts on how to handle this?

If the Cornish Xs are meat birds then they need to be separate. If not, watch the birds. If they are getting to aggressive l would but then in a brooder next to the others so they can see and hear each other and then try and put them back together. This has worked for me in the past.

The meat birds should be on a different feed than the others, so should be separated for that. But even at one week the Cornish Cross will get big. Also with the bald sports as the birds grow your other birds could start pecking at them. I would separate them.
