My black sex link started laying about two weeks ago, and it was pretty sporadic the first week. The past few days she has laid her egg around 8 a.m. each morning, but instead of singing the egg song, she stays on the egg. If I go out to the coop, I can take her off the egg without her fussing at me, then she goes about her business. She tucks the egg under her chest, which makes me think broody, but she doesn't put up a fuss when I move her or try to go back to the nesting box. There is a fake egg in the box, since I have others at POL. Currently there is only one other chicken laying, and she just started 2 days ago. Yesterday was the other chickens first time laying an egg in the nesting box and Stormy (the possible broody) had already laid her egg, and either got out or was pushed out by the other chicken.
Stormy is 21 weeks old. Should I just keep moving her off the egg each day? We don't have a roo, and don't plan on getting one.

I have a one year old black sex link that lays last most days, and when she does she tucks the uncollected eggs underneath her while she lays. If she were truly broody, she would hiss and fuss at you if you tried to move her; and she would pluck out her chest feathers to create humidity while the eggs develop. She’s probably not broody just likes to take her time.

Good to know. It worried me a little that she would sit in there for hours after laying her egg.

I'd just leave her be.
She may be a 'lounger'.....a bird who sits on nest before and/or after laying, could be for up to several hours.
Just collect all eggs at least daily or as often as you please, with or without removing bird from nest. I just reach under and grab eggs, replacing with a fakie(which is just my little foible).

ETA: tho I have had a couple pullets go broody pretty quick after onset of lay, I just toss them out of the nest frequently during the day...but only after finding them in the nest a couple nights in a row.

I have been reaching under her and getting the egg, and she acts all confused and looks for it. She did it three days in a row, but today she didn't lay an egg, at least not yet. She hasn't gone in the nesting box either.

I'd leave eggs for the day anyway, with new layers...or at least replace real egg taken with a fakie.
I have some fake ones, but I don't mind leaving the egg until she leaves the nest. I didn't know if that would encourage her to stay. So as long as she is just taking her time and eventually getting out of the box, I don't have to worry?

Both my broodies will shriek when you walk in the coop. If they hear your voice from outside the coop, they shriek. That doesn't mean yours will, but I know when they are thinking about going broody when they start acting like little dinosaurs.
