My Pekin just started laying last Saturday. She's given me 5 eggs so far. Today hubby went out to open up before work and found her sitting on her egg. We know it's her bc our hens lay brown and of course hers is white-ish and she is the only one who leaves us an egg some time over night and we find between 6-630 every day when we open up. But when he went to grab the egg she started quacking real loud and seemed like she was pushing herself down on the egg and tried to bite (or whatever it's called with ducks) him when he went to grab it. With this being her first week laying is it normal for her to be broody already? Should I see if she stops on her own or should I stop her? Im gonna let some babies hatch next spring but I really wasn't thinking they could go broody this soon. What should I do?

Edit to add: I've cooled a broody chicken before but how do I cool a duck? Is it the same thing?

I've had pullets try to go broody when they first start laying, but they usually give up pretty quickly. I would break her if it were me.
I've never broken a broody duck before, but I would think it would be the same as with chickens :)

Hubby wants to see if she will actually sit so I guess we're doing that. She's twitching her wings alot and sitting alot and I read somewhere that's from being broody. He's wanting to see if we can actually hatch some babies from her. I doubt any of hers or her sisters (we call them sisters. TSC babies bought together) eggs will be fertile bc we only have the roo and not a Drake.
Edit to add: I meant to say she's also sitting on the chicken eggs that's why he wants to see if anything happens.
